This Week I Have...

*ignored the laundry

*packed for all 4 of us for a quick visit to Auburn (Not an easy task especially when one must think of matching hairbows, shoes, and accessories---yes, I'm a little obsessive!)

*ate my very favorite pizza at Mellow Mushroom (sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, garlic, red pepper flakes). I have tried to duplicate it at home but it is just not the same.

*spent Thursday shopping with my sister (2 hours were spent in Target....I had to get my fill)

*watched MM hug HJ and proclaim, "Best Friends Forever!"

*my heart melted after hearing that sweet proclamation

*not had to cook for 3 days (WooHoo). What a nice break!

*jammed out to music with Abbey. My little sis and I both have a love for music so it is so much fun listening with her. We always have a story for every song and those songs just take me back. We have always been crazy about the music.

*actually bought a few items of clothing for me and not my children (**GASP**)

*watched American Idol. I was an avid follower for the first few years, but I have not watched the last two. I'm still not sure I'm interested.

*let the girls stay up late.

*watched For Love or Money with Michael J. Fox (oh how I love that cheesy flick), The Silence of the Lambs (I watched this for the very first time at Amber Quinn's house back in the 8th grade. I won't tell you how long I had nightmares), Runaway Bride, and The Day After Tomorrow (you know, because I want it to snow). Talk about a random movie choices.

*bought a new fryer (yes, I know fried food is bad, very bad). We need hot wings. 'Nough said.

*did not drink my daily amount of water (this was a resolution for me). Sad that I'm already slacking.

*played "Stickers" with the girls. HJ loves to stick them all over her face. At the end of every day, you should see the bottom of our socks/shoes....covered in stickers. Oh well--they are only young once, right?

*tended to both of the girls. HJ has had an ear infection and MM has been running a "phantom" fever...meaning it comes and goes randomly.

*been covered in snot (nice visual, eh?) because of aforementioned sickness.

*answered MM about 478 times that Christmas isn't coming around again for a long time.

*been reading Lipstick Jungle by Candace Bushnell (author of Sex and the City).

*have not stayed in pajamas for a full day (surprised?)

*prayed for Harper Brown Stamps!

The Repeater

As a parent, do you ever feel like Charlie Brown's teacher?

Wha-wha-wha-whaaa-wha-wha

I certainly do. Mary Margaret is a repeater. It is just a fact of life. When she says something the first time and I don't answer, I get the repeat.

And the repeat.

And the repeat.

I mean to tell you, I better answer her and answer her fast.

And that girl, doesn't even give me time to answer. She just keeps on with all that questioning.

And sometimes when I answer her, she still repeats. I get flustered and frustrated.

And how is it that even with all the "Mommy trials" I wake up welcoming each day? I savor (most all) moments. I love being a Mommy. I would be happy if my kids stay this way. I adore Mommyhood. I love staying at home (though I didn't expect to).. I'm so thankful for my job as a full time.

The One Where I Ramble

Do you find yourself doing the same monotonous things the exact same way? For example, do you always shave the left leg first while in the shower? Do you have routines that you always stick to? Do you brush the same side of your teeth first? Are you methodical? When you clean do you have an order?

I certainly am. I'm totally in a routine. Last night, I got to wondering, is it just me? Am I the only crazy, obsessive compulsive one out there?

On another note, I so have the winter blahs. It happens every January and February. Exercise would definitely help, but it has been way too cold outside to even think about that. Any suggestions??

Still be praying for sweet Kelly and her baby Harper.

So tomorrow I'll try to be back with a more cohesive post or even a more interesting one. Or maybe not;)

Prayer Request

My bloggy friend, Kelly, needs our prayers. She struggled with infertility for quite some time and informed us all in May that she was finally pregnant. She found out it was a girl and they chose the name Harper. Kelly was 40 1/2 weeks pregnant and was induced yesterday. Harper was born at 7:03 last night and immediately problems were noticed. She was flown to Tulsa (they live in Arkansas). Please read about it HERE and please, please, please pray for this family. Kelly is one of the very first blog friends I "met". She is a strong Christian and I know that her faith is seeing her through right now.

Thursday Thirteen

1. I'm reading again. I love, love, love to read. What an escape! I'm on my 5th novel in 9 days. I'm just glad you can't see my messy house...

2. I am so enjoying our fireplace especially b/c it is going to be 7 degrees in the morning. YIKES!

3. I unpacked 25 boxes Tuesday. I have tons more to unpack. At least, they are upstairs and I can't see them.

4. HJ has the cutest new smile. She squishes up her nose and grins. Gosh I love it!

5. I'm tired of picking up pecans in our backyard, but it's like my obsession. I just don't like to waste. Here are the girls "helping" me with all that picking up!

6. We bought a Wii and I love it!!! We have the Wii Fit and it is so much fun. It's like family game night every night. We Hula hoop, bowl, box (MM's favorite), play tennis, do yoga, etc.

7. Santa brought HJ a Pottery Barn anywhere chair and she loves it. She is getting to be such a big girl. Where has my little baby gone??

8. I need to clean my antique, crystal chandeliers. Any ideas?? I don't want to take them down. I've heard a few random things (ammonia and water) and I'm willing to try!

9. Oh and I've got this little addiction to Facebook. Yes, I've said it. I'm putting it all out there for you, my friends.

10. I like Kevin Bacon, but I hate Footloose. Name that song and you get a gold star;)

11. I so enjoyed the Twilight books. I resisted these novels for so long. I mean, reading about vampires is not something I would normally enjoy. Just not my genre, BUT I did finally read them and now I recommend them. Stepping outside my comfort zone....

12. Have I mentioned that HJ loves chocolate?? What about chocolate chip cookies?

13. And HJ likes pecan pie with vanilla ice cream? Well she does. She likes all sweet things....maybe that's why she's so sweet;)

Wordless Wednesday

Nanee (my mother) loves to spoil her little grand darlings. Here she is slipping HJ some sweet tea (thankfully is was decaffeinated)!!!

Busted!

Michael and I were busy cooking Christmas Eve dinner (turkey, dressing, sweet potato casserole, green beans, creamed corn, rolls, homemade pecan pie with homemade crust)....needless to say we were a little bit busy.

I noticed that after awhile HJ was quiet.

Uh-oh!!!

Serious uh-oh when it comes to that little darling.

When I did find her, I was not the least bit surprised...

She had found the little chocolate Butterfinger bells and had eaten about 6 or 7....including the foil wrapper. Apparently she did not like the wrapper. The wrappers were strode all over the foyer and den.

What can I say? She got that chocolate-lovin' from her Mommy!
